Celebrating 30 years of New Routes Fostering

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of New Routes Fostering, the fostering service of Father Hudson’s Care.

The agency has evolved over time, and currently has a diverse range of carers to meet the changing needs of some of the most vulnerable in society.

The landscape of children’s services has changed significantly since 1992, however the need for dedicated and committed foster carers has not changed and if anything, this need has increased. In the past year alone, the service has supported 31 children. Each child and young person comes with their own experiences, challenges, talents, abilities, hopes, dreams and wishes. Our foster carers offer them a safe and supportive home as well as support and care that meets their particular needs.

Whilst the agency celebrates 30 years, two of our carer households are themselves celebrating 25 years as Foster Carers this year. This is a great milestone and truly inspirational. In total, they have cared for 71 children between them during their fostering careers. Ian, Mary and Tim received certificates and gift vouchers in recognition of their achievements.

Ian said: “Fostering has been one of the most rewarding career paths that I have chosen to date. It is an amazing feeling to have the ability and capability to play a major role in the lives of young people who have suffered so much trauma. Giving stability, love, a warm place to live and reassurance on a daily basis enables young people to develop and achieve their true potential in life and take their rightful place in society which makes it all worthwhile.”
